The Seven-Day Rain

It has been a solid week of rain. Yeah, it let up a couple of times to a light drizzle but the sun peaked out seldom. Today, it broke through in all its glory and everyone is running around in shorts with giddy smiles, calling to anyone within earshot, “Great weather!” or “Boat leaks? Yeah, me too” – both being said with equal light-heartedness because who couldn’t be optimistic on a day like today. A couple I had not yet meet called out from their boat as Lily and I passed in the dinghy with, “Hey you know how to get to the beach by dinghy, right?”  –  such information seeming urgent on a day like today. I admit, I considered heading that direction. However, we are considering a departure for Ft. Myers this weekend so there are a few chores to get done. “Tomorrow?” Lily asked hopefully. “We’ll see,” a mother’s most overused cliche if there every was one.

Needless to say, I haven’t had the camera out much although a shot of Randall and Lily hopping through some of the puddles on the way to Publix would be great. I do have a few sunset pics since even in the worst Keys weather, you still look across the water at sights like these.

Shot three last night. We were having dinner, watching the colors deepen from the salon table. Lily took this because I couldn't leave my huge roast beef and cheese salad.

And we always think Oklahoma is the only place with beautiful sunsets! Looks like lots of sailboats! Are most of those occupied? Or do some people leave their boats at moorings when they plan to be gone for several weeks?
