Sunken Gardens – St. Petersburg

Back in the early 1900’s, a St. Petersburg plumber bought a little 4-acre parcel featuring a small pond. He drained the pond, dropping the acreage to 15 feet below street level, and started planting stuff in the rich soil he exposed. Pretty soon, he was charging 24 cents for tours of his exotic botanical garden. Here are a few pics from our six dollar tour yesterday.
