Puerto Morelos

We sailed to Puerto Morelos today with clouds on all sides. We left early this morning in anticipation of fighting the two knot current all day. Somehow, we rode a little counter current down and made really good time while also somehow avoiding rain until the final ten minutes. As we pulled into El Cid Marina, it started pouring down. We got in a slip and it let up enough to make us think it might be done for the day. We started into town on foot to check in with the Port Captain and look around. Just at the edge of town, another downpour began but this one lasted hours. We huddled up under the eave of a church for 30 minutes and finally got tired of the wait. There were taxis all around but we were so drenched at that point we just succumbed to the elements. We got back to the boat wet to the bone and chilly and got some hot soup and coffee going for dinner. Relaxing tonight with the rain still pattering on the deck above. More rain expected for tomorrow so not sure when we will get to explore.
