Island Potluck And Cook-off

We have been living a pretty routine boat life this week. Homeschool and computer work at the salon table all morning. A boat chore in the afternoon, like laundry by hand in a tub on the bow. Volleyball or swimming in the late afternoon. Dinner late in the evening, often grilled to avoid heating the galley. A walk around the island at night.

Lily helps with the laundry and then does Whiskers clothes. Here she is sitting in the wind scoop after hanging all Whiskers things out to dry.

However, last night, we got together with Where II, Emerald Sea and Blowing Bubbles to attend the second island potluck/cook-off. The first island potlock/cook-off was a few weeks ago at Las Palmas. A number of chefs as well as amateur chefs brought entries to compete for prizes in three categories: appetizers, entrees and desserts. Susie and John entered a seafood lasagna last time and were putting together sushi for this go around. There is nothing better than eating food made by competitive cooks vying for bragging rights. When they gave the “everyone come eat” signal, everyone hit the appetizer line first. A few decided to start with an entree since the line was shorter. Lily headed over to start with dessert. We got to try small portions of so many different dishes and went home stuffed.

We have big plans for tomorrow! Kyle and Shelly of Blowing Bubbles are going to teach us to blow some bubbles! I will give a more detailed report tomorrow.

We thought about entering something but couldn’t ever decide on what to enter. Plus we figured we needed to take a lot of food and it is kind of hard to cook large quantities in our little galley. Yeah, we are still enjoying Roatan but will probably leave soon although still not sure where to head next. I do wish it was easier to drop in at the farm for a weekend!!! We miss everyone out there.
